Transformation Team
Notes September 30, 2009 Room 216 Those present: Anne Tewks, Matt Dubel, Sarah Kadden, Julie Brown, Meghan O’Rourke, Kathy Rossman, Barb Hubbard The Team decided that our meeting dates would be on Mondays from 2:45-3:45 PM in Room 216. We will meet every other week for now, and re-evaluate before January 1st to see if we can move to meeting every three weeks. The next meeting date will be October 12, followed by October 26th. Meghan O’Rourke has some questions about the role of the Transformation team, what our present function and purpose as a team, and if we need to call it something else. In addition, it was asked if our team is functioning without an official standing or authority. It was decided to ask Victor, Abi, Tewks, and matt to sit down a draft some answers to these questions. They will meet on Tuesday, October 6th at 11 AM. The group had a discussion around research proposals, visits/observations from college students, and visits from other interested parties. Anyone interested in a research proposal will fill out the approved template and follow the ‘Protocol For Research Related to the Sustainability Theme’ as set forth by Matt and approved by the Transformation team. Observation requests will go through Abi or Tewks and will be offered to the faculty as they come to our attention. Kathy Rossman suggested that as part of our evaluation process at the Academy, we invite the researchers to work with some 4th and 5th graders to create a documentary of the history of the SA. Matt suggested asking the Henderson Foundation to help us fund that later on this year. The Ecological Learning Institute presented its plan to ask families, students, and all interested stakeholders to help design a multi-functional ecological schoolyard. They will present their plan to the PTO on October 14th.
